The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) represents over 27,000 academic and professional staff in universities and other tertiary education providers throughout Australia. The Union’s SA Division, which represents members employed at the University of Adelaide, Flinders University, and the University of South Australia, is seeking to employ a highly motivated staff member to join its team of industrial and organising staff.
This is a full-time position and will be available from 12 June 2024. You will be located at the SA Division office in Adelaide but will also have specified Branch allocated time which will involve travelling to Flinders University and other universities in SA.
The successful candidate will be assigned a mix of duties, including working in a team and taking responsibility for the completion of assigned organising, campaign, recruitment, administrative, and digital tasks or projects.
The successful applicant will meet the following criteria:
a demonstrated background and commitment to unionism and advocacy for social justice issues and/or workplace rights;
2. experience in recruitment, organising, campaigning, administration, and database management;
3. elevated digital literacies and online skills and capacities;
4. experience working cooperatively in teams-based environments;
5. exceptional social and interpersonal skills; and
6. knowledge of the tertiary sector and experience in the support of activist networks would be an advantage.
The position will be filled at either NTEU Level 5 ($93,333 to $100,909) or NTEU Level 6 ($105,372 to $115,515) depending on skills and experience, plus 17% employer superannuation contributions. Terms and conditions for this position are covered by a national collective agreement which has terms comparable with NTEU members in the industry.
