About Us:
The Transport Workers Union of Australia – NSW/QLD Interim Governance Branch is seeking an enthusiastic, people-oriented individual with a strong commitment to workers’ rights to join our passionate team at our Murarrie Office. This role primarily involves office-based responsibilities, focusing on logistical and administrative support and providing guidance and support to our valued members and actively contributing to the promotion of our union campaigns.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills with a strong emphasis on member service and professional phone etiquette.
• Proactive and self-driven approach to work, capable of managing multiple demands in a dynamic role.
• A strong commitment to respect, integrity, and compliance and understanding of relevant state and federal industrial relations, workplace health, and safety acts, including the Queensland Industrial Relations Act, Fair Work Act, Queensland Work Health and Safety Act, and Work Health and Safety Act (Cth).
• A genuine desire to empower workers, support their rights, and demonstrate a basic understanding of Industrial Relations laws as outlined in the Queensland Industrial Relations Act 2016 and the Fair Work Act 2009.
• Strong data entry skills and attention to detail
• Capability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Willingness to undertake general administrative duties as needed.
• Effective organization of workload and task prioritization.
• Proficiency in using a variety of IT programs and applications, including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, Microsoft programs, and external websites, as required for the role.
• Executive support such as research, event management and logistical arrangements
• A keen interest in further developing their skills to make a meaningful contribution to the union movement.
As a people person, you will be service driven and happy to roll up your sleeves to support internal and external stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Maintain accurate records of member interactions and membership information in our database, including comprehensive data management tasks such as creating membership profiles, updating contact information, payment records, workplace details, and any other pertinent information.
• Actively engage in member recruitment and foster active participation among both potential and existing members through outreach campaigns, emphasizing the benefits of union membership.
• Provide exceptional support to our members and extend the same level of support to all relevant stakeholders through a diverse range of communication channels, including phone, email, written correspondence, and occasionally face-to-face interactions, demonstrating empathy for the various challenges workers may face in their employment relationships.
• Assist with general administrative duties and office support.
• Collaborate with team members to handle ad-hoc tasks as required.
• Promote and assist in organising union events and campaigns designed to enhance member engagement and participation.
• Conduct research and information gathering, as needed, to assist in complex matters from time to time.
Position Details:
• Permanent position, Monday to Friday.
• Free on-site parking available.
• Generous conditions such as 15% superannuation, 20% leave loading, PDO roster.
